➡️ Here are some steps to help resolve memory-related issues:
1. Check Your Monitor Cable
Make sure your monitor cable is plugged into your Graphics Card ports, not into onboard HDMI or other graphics display ports.
If you're on a laptop or want to ensure your desktop uses the dedicated graphics card, follow this guide:
How to force Windows to use dedicated graphics.
2. Update Your Video Drivers
Ensure you're using the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD (avoid Windows' auto-downloaded GPU drivers).
Download the latest drivers from:
AMD Drivers
3. Modify Virtual Memory
Virtual memory allows your computer to use hard drive space as if it were extra RAM. This can help, especially if you have an SSD:
Press Windows Key + R, then type SystemPropertiesAdvanced and hit Enter.
Go to the Advanced tab, then click Settings.
In the Virtual Memory section, click Change.
Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size.
Select Custom size, and set both Initial and Maximum size to a value (e.g., 8000 MB for 8 GB).
Click Save.
(If you have a second hard drive, you can use that as well.)
4. NVIDIA PhysX Settings
For those using NVIDIA graphics cards, changing the PhysX settings might help:
Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Go to Configure Surround, PhysX.
Under PhysX settings, choose CPU from the dropdown.
If this doesn’t work, try selecting your Graphics Card (Note: NVIDIA 5000 series cards don’t support PhysX).
5. Reinstall GPU Drivers
If the above steps don’t help, you can try completely removing the GPU drivers and reinstalling them. Use these tools for a clean uninstall:
6. Use Large Address Aware (LAA)
Allow the game to use more than 4 GB of RAM with the Large Address Aware tool:
Download from TechPowerUp Large Address Aware.
Back up your Defiance.exe file (copy and rename it).
Open the LAA application.
In Step 1, select your Defiance.exe from the game’s install folder.
In Step 2, enable the Large Address Aware Flag.
Click Save.
If issues persist, replace the modified Defiance.exe with your backup.
7. Contact IT Support
If none of these steps work and you continue to experience memory issues across all games, it may be worth contacting a local IT Support Shop to check for hardware or compatibility problems.
